Meet Your Rejoice Pastors

We Are Here To Serve You

Lead Pastors

Dr. George and Cathy
BLACK

Dr. George and Cathy Black are the founding pastors of the Rejoice Church in Olive Branch, MS, a north Mississippi community in Memphis, TN metropolitan area. They provide the church with a wonderfully balanced husband and wife team that is an encouragement to the entire church. George is the senior pastor, leading the church with over thirty-four years of ministry experience, and widely recognized as a dynamic church builder with a relevant and life encouraging speaking style.

George began in ministry as a youth pastor in 1974 and has subsequently served six other churches as either associate or senior pastor. Raised a traditional Methodist, he encountered the nondenominational / Spirit-filled ranks of Christianity as a nineteen year old in 1971. He had a life changing experience with Jesus Christ that included receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit. From that point forward, he was called by God to preach the Gospel, build churches, and train leaders. This he has done by serving in various pastoral capacities, as well as preaching in many churches across America, and in various other countries.

Cathy Black, George's wife, serves as the co-pastor of the Rejoice church, and is a second generation ordained minister. She is an anointed worship leader and singer, and oversees the Music ministry, and Women's ministry. She is also an outstanding Bible teacher, having earned the nickname "the Joyce Meyer of Olive Branch". She is also a medical secretary for the Crosby Clinic in Memphis, TN.

Both George and Cathy are ordained ministers with Victory Churches International.

Assistant Pastors
James & Candy
BUTLER

Pastors James and Candy Butler aretwo of the most incredible human beings you will ever meet. They came to Rejoice in 2003 with a great wealth of ability and experience. But we did not first notice them because of this, but rather because they chose to help serve the church in small but important ways. God was watching, and as they embraced the guiding principles and new culture at Rejoice, they were revolutionized in a powerful way.

James and Candy are bivocational. James is retired from the United States Army, and is a Viet Nam Veteran. Candy works for the Social Security department in downtown Memphis, TN.

Having served first as Small Group leaders, then as Deacons, and then as Elders, they were finally ordained as our Assistant Pastors in 2009. They now oversee the Small Groups Ministry of Rejoice, among other things.

If you need a truly people friendly couple to assist you with your spiritual walk, this couple is a delight to work with.
